Tribute to Cultural Master Exhibition at Book Fair
Born in Hong Kong and educated in Japan and Germany, Aries Lee is a renowned sculptor renowned for his ability to seamlessly blend cultures in his artwork. In 1989, three of his sculptures were awarded in a competition for permanent installation in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, and were unveiled by the Princess of Wales during the opening ceremony. Aries' other sculptures have been collected by museums in Hong Kong and private collectors alike.
In 2009, Michelle had the privilege to curate Aries' exhibition in the special event, "Tribute to 8 Cultural Masters in Hong Kong," which celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Hong Kong Book Fair. Aries showcased his precious bronze sculptures cast in Japan in the 1980s, alongside his contemporary works, showcasing his ever-youthful energy. Aries was selected as one of eight cultural masters, representing the sculptural arts, and was exhibited alongside the works of other cultural masters such as writer Eileen Chang, Chinese opera performer Ren Jianhui, and Sinologist Jao Tsung-I. Michelle also held a few seminars during the event, further illuminating the significance of Aries' contributions to the world of art.
